Deer Park High Announces Class of 2016 Valedictorian, Salutatorian

The valedictorian and salutatorian for Deer Park High School’s Class of 2016 are Kathryn Block and Peter Demopoulos, respectively, the school announced on Monday. 

Block, an AP Scholar with Distinction, is a member of the school’s National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, World Language Honor Society, Varsity Leaders Club, HEAT Club, Chess Club and Math Team. She has been a member of the varsity girls swim team since she was a freshman, and is currently team captain, where she organizes team events and lineups. She has been involved in Girls Scouts since kindergarten, where she contributes to numerous charitable endeavors and is working on her Gold Award.

Demopoulos serves as president of the Class of 2016, National Honor Society and PEN Society, as well as editor in chief of the school newspaper and captain of the Academic Team. An AP Scholar with Honor, he is a member of Deer Park’s World Language Honor Society, Student Council and Newspaper Club. As a member of DECA, he was elected treasurer and earned fifth place in the state tournament. He is first chair bassist in the jazz ensemble, plays on the junior varsity gold team and volunteers with the local Knights of Columbus.
