Deer Park HS Fosters Pride With Black History Posters
As part of Deer Park's Black History Month celebration, students created posters highlighting important figures in Black history.

As part of Deer Park High School’s Black History Month celebration, students – both virtual and in-person – created posters highlighting important figures in Black history. The posters were designed by members of the Black Student Union in collaboration with the French and Spanish Honor Societies. The quotes featured on the posters were written in English, French and Spanish to promote diversity and inclusion as well as to enhance cultural awareness and understanding through student-created art.

“The purpose of this decorating campaign was to educate and empower students to learn more about influential African Americans and to foster a sense of pride in their school and learning community,” said social studies teacher Aleisha Forbes, the Black Student Union adviser.
Black History Month: As part of the Black History Month celebration at Deer Park High School, students Nicollette Jean, Veronica Laguerre, Liana Luc and Keziah Pierre-Louis assisted social studies teacher Aleisha Forbes, the Black Student Union adviser, in hanging posters highlighting important figures in Black history.
