Deer Park Musicians Join In at NYC's Merry Tuba Christmas
Students perform at 41st annual Merry Tuba Christmas concert.
Music students from Deer Park High School and Robert Frost Middle School joined more than 500 other tuba and euphonium players from across the U.S. in a Dec. 14 performance of traditional Christmas carols and other holiday favorites at the 41st annual Merry Tuba Christmas concert at Manhattan’s Rockefeller Center.
Chris Wilhjelm served as the conductor of this year’s Tuba Christmas, an event created by tuba master Harvey Phillips to honor his late instructor William J. Bell.
Led by Deer Park’s band directors, Jerry Cannarozzo and Eric Gottesman, participating students included high schoolers Joe Alo, Calo Arena, Jack Dillon, Brandon Doogan, Nick Olsen, Matt Pacheco, Joe Rendino, Kyle Schwarz and Justin Wyhowanec; and middle schoolers Julianna Hannan and Kelly Schwarz.
