Deer Park and North Babylon residents headed to the polls Tuesday to vote on a school budget and elect board members.
DEER PARK-NORTH BABYLON, NY - Deer Park and North Babylon residents hit the polls on Tuesday to vote on school budgets and school board members.
Deer Park approved the district's $112,508,977 proposed budget on Tuesday by a margin of 963 to 305.
The budget represents a 3.06 percent spending increase over the current year and a tax levy increase of 2.21 percent.

In the vote for Deer Park Board of Education members, incumbents President John Gouskos (945 votes) and trustee Kristine Rosales (935 votes), both running unopposed, were reelected.
In the race for the open seat currently held by Keith Rooney, who did not seek reelection, the winner was Jerry D. Jean-Pierre with 684 votes over Anthony Henkel, who received 517 votes.

In North Babylon, residents approved the districts proposed budget of $121,486,020 by a 960 to 391 vote.
The budget represents a 2.61 percent increase over the current year and a tax levy increase of 2.70 percent.
In the trustee election both incumbents Daniel D. Caroleo and Heather Rowland beat out Aaron Johnson and Daniel Williams.
Caroleo received 698 votes, Rowland received 860 votes, Johnson received 221 and Williams received 327.
