Deer Park Track Athletes Shine At Weekend Meets
Nine of Deer Park High School's boys track athletes recently competed at the Yale Bowl Classic Invitational.

From Deer Park Schools: Nine of Deer Park High School’s boys track athletes competed at the Yale Bowl Classic Invitational, held Jan. 12-13 at Yale University, with the 4x800-meter relay team – consisting of Ryan Brooks, Nick Maniscalco, Warren Millien and Tyler Neilson – taking second place. Tyler Neilson’s outstanding performance in the 3,000-meter race landed him fourth all-time in that event in the school’s record book.
The team continued to shine at the Freshman/Sophomore Championships, held Jan. 13 at Suffolk County Community College’s Brentwood campus. Freshman Jon Alicea was the runner-up in the long jump for all freshmen, Aidan Neilson took third for all freshmen in the 1,600-meter race, and Maniscalco took third for all sophomores in the 600-meter. “The coaching staff was extremely proud and pleased with how our boys performed,” said coach Thomas Brouillard. “It’s always a good weekend when our runners bring home several medals, but more importantly, represent Deer Park with professionalism. The meet at Yale is a prestigious one and the Frosh/Soph Championship is extremely important, which makes these performances all the greater.”
