DeLuca Students Learn About Fire Safety

North Babylon students receive a visit from the North Babylon Fire Department for an informative lesson.

As part of National Fire Safety Week, students at William E. DeLuca Elementary School in the North Babylon School District received a visit from the North Babylon Fire Department for an informative lesson on fire prevention, fire safety, and fire equipment.

Students in all grade levels had the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities designed to make them aware of fire hazards and how firefighters work to protect them. In one activity, students were helped to escape from the window of a trailer that was set up as a room in a home. Students also watched videos and lectures, completed readings and handouts, and climbed into a fire truck to experience a firefighter’s true setting.

The purpose of the North Babylon Fire Department’s visit was to reinforce the principles of fire prevention and fire safety to students.
