Dirt Bike Rider Seriously Hurt After Crash Into Car in Deer Park

DEER PARK, NY - A 21-year-old West Babylon man was airlifted to the hospital with a serious head injury after the dirt bike he was riding collided with a car in Deer Park Monday night, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, Frank James was riding the dirt bike westbound on Nicolls Road when the bike struck a 2015 Mercedes that was heading east on Nicolls Road and attempting to make a left turn onto northbound Carlls Path at 9:40 p.m.

James was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital via a SCPD helicopter.

The driver of the Mercedes, 18-year-old Sukhminder Singh, of Deer Park, was not injured.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.
