Drunken Deer Park Man Hits Brother, Pedestrian With Car: Cops

The 33-year-old and the two pedestrians who were struck were hospitalized, one in serious condition, police say.

BAY SHORE, NY - A Deer Park man was arrested after hitting two pedestrians while driving drunk in Bay Shore early Saturday morning, according to Suffolk Police.

A group of people were gathered in the parking lot of 2175 Union Boulevard, when one of the people, 33-year-old Carlos Lopez, tried to leave in his 2014 Dodge pickup and struck 41-year-old Kenneth Rosario, of Deer Park in the parking lot at 3:20 a.m., police said.

Lopez continued driving and struck a building in the parking lot and then struck his brother 31-year-old Edgar Lopez, also of Deer Park, police said.

The vehicle continued through a fence and then struck a storage trailer on 2177 Union Boulevard.

Carlos, Edgar and Rosario were all transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, police said.

Rosario and Carlos were treated and released. Edgar was admitted in serious condition.

Carlos was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.

He will be held overnight at the Third Precinct for arraignment on Sunday.
