Eagle Scout Project - North Babylon Boy Scout Troop 399

On September 23, 2017, Kevin Neumann, a Life Scout from Troop 399, North Babylon completed his Eagle project which was to collect 1500 lbs. of food for the St. Paul's Food Pantry. With help from members of his troop and the North Babylon community, he far surpassed his original goal and collected almost 2 tons (3900 lbs) of food ! Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer was on site and thanked Kevin for his hard work.

Only a small fraction of boys who join scouting move forward to attain Eagle Scout status. However, the benefits from doing so are impressive. According to a study conducted by Baylor University, Eagle Scouts are more likely than men who have never been in scouting to have higher levels of planning and preparation skills, be goal-oriented and network with others, be in a leadership position at their place of employment or local community, report having closer relationships with family and friends, volunteer for religious and non-religious organizations, donate money to charitable groups and work with others to improve their neighborhoods.
