Equality in Wages within the NYS Legislature is Required!
Maryann Maltese, a Former Regional Communications Manager with the NYS Legislature; Mentored Members pushes the Earnings Position

Maryann Maltese, Democrat, Former NYS Public Officer holding 2 Titles of Employment at the same time; Manager of Communications-Regionally and Chief of Staff was erroneously paid for positions held-and with Statewide Election upon us of November 3rd-Introduction of Legislation and Implementation thereof must be required.
Maryann Maltese is calling out the Governor to build upon his Women's Platforms of 2014-2017 whereas the Governor promised to ensure Equality of Wages for Inactive and Active Female Staff would be considered and moved on. No Legislative Enactments have occurred. In 2104, Governor ran on the Women's Equality Political Party Line (WEP), promoting the necessity for earnings reviews within the Public and Private Sectors. On Average; Women Managers within the NYS Legislature earned 69cents for every dollar; it's far less than Private sector women who earn between 79-81cents for every dollar.
As this is the 100th Anniversary year of Women's Movement-a proper celebration would be for the Governor to recognize this mistake and make good on the promises to Women who have performed excellence in service. Clearly the way to advance women is to pay them equality for performances rendered-this is how we correct inequality of wages.

I'm one of these Female Managers-there are others; but after placing the Executive on Notice (The Governor) and there is no reply within a timely manner-if we keep brushing the issue under the rug or tabling it; then inside the NYS Legislature- we have not fulfilled our Promises to Women Public Officers of NYS. The Promise of Equality in Earnings begins within the NYS Legislature and glows outward to the Women of New York State. With the prospect of a New Conservative US Supreme Court Judge being ratified who may not support what the Conservative party considers "the Liberation of Women"-then Women's Rights are more vulnerable than ever before. After 100 years to gain Civil Rights; why would any woman at this point who is entitled to Legislative Relief in implementation of Equality in Earnings wait further? Women Simply can not afford to not earn the same 100 pennies for ever dollar of earnings in their performance of employment or continue to sit back who are entitled to retroactive earnings. It's simply unacceptable if we continue to close our eyes in the NYS Public Sector and say; let's wait another Legislative Session; by doing this-we are Blind or Arrogant in their Leadership.
Parameters of COVID 19 is an excuse for what has been lurking underneath the surface-it's over 7 Annual Legislative Sessions in NYS-Women have been patient-but ignoring it or stating let's wait Longer for Legislative Bill Introductions is unacceptable.

The Enactment of the Maltese Equality in Earnings Law builds upon the Women's Equality Political Parties NYS's platform to not rest until Equality of Earnings is achieved-the Governor ran part of his Campaign on WEP's Platform. It was Governor Cuomo, that supported Women's petitioning to bring women together from both sides of the aisle-on the matter of Equality of earnings-but fulfillment has not occurred since 2014.
Women are truly only equal in the workforce when they earn the same salary for tenure achieved and aspects of promotional causes which encourage advancement. I'm one of these Women formerly employed by the NYS Legislature who held 2 Titles, Performance Outstanding, but earnings for both not presented by NYS-that does require Legislative Intervention now-not in 10 more years.
It's unacceptable NYS Public Sector Employment Practices to Professionally accelerate a female public officer through the employment ranks, but not award equal wages or annual increases for employment services performed with outstanding accommodations note in the employment files. A pat on the back-without equality of wages is meaningless, especially understanding that those employees who held similar titles earned 50-60% more-is discrimination at its best.
Now is the time that NYS needs to answer the call and implement the retroactive bill language to repair Equality of Earnings-that the Governor has spoken about, promised and He must keep his word to NYS Female Public Officers who meet the standards noted above. By Law implementation than-NYS will set up a better HRA-Employment or Recertification of Employment Contract process for other women to come forward; submit the correct review form of their credentials the proof they need for cross-referenced actuary examination processes to be conducted and if warranted (as it should be); implement legislative bill introductions to correct earnings inequality. This is the answer to our Civil Rights with NYS or Private Sector Employer Situations- as Women it fulfills the purpose of review as Women-regardless of ethnicity; we are still listed as a protective class of people. Women are only equal when we earn the same earnings for the same employment positions with advancement raises included at male peer rate or employment ratios. Peers; these men are; not above us, not below us-but equal to us.
