Honoring the Flag at Saints Cyril and Methodius

8th Graders at Saints Cyril and Methodius School in Deer Park learn the time-honored tradition of Flag Folding

Just in time for Memorial Day around the corner...

Tom Horn, Sergeant-at-Arms from the American Legion in Babylon, graciously volunteered his time to give Deer Park's Saints Cyril and Methodius School 8th Graders an invaluable lesson on the time-honored tradition of proper Flag Folding. The custom of folding the United States Flag into the shape of a triangle bestows unique honor and respect upon the Flag. The 8th Graders sat rapt in awe of this beautiful tradition, then were able to get some hands on practice as they learned the new skill in preparation to perform as part of their Spring Concert.

On Monday, May 30th, Saints Cyril and Methodius Students will be marching in the annual VFW Memorial Day Parade in Deer Park. Join us at 9:30am on Lake Avenue between West 19th St. and West 22nd St.
