How To Help The Family Of A 21-Year-Old Man Killed In Crash

A fundraiser was recently started to help the family of a man who died after crashing his car into a tree on Tuesday.

DEER PARK, NY - A fundraiser was recently started to help the family of a 21-year-old Deer Park man who died after crashing his car into a tree this week.

On Tuesday, Sheldon Singh was driving a 2011 BMW sedan eastbound on Liberty Street east of Deer Park Avenue when his car left the roadway and crashed into a tree, according to Suffolk Police.

He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of serious, life-threatening injuries but succumbed to his injuries later that day, police said.

Following his death, Joy Amoroso Catania, the mother of Singh's girlfriend of 5 years, started a campaign on GoFundMe to help raise money for his family.

"Our brother and son was taken suddenly this morning," a message on the page reads. "Sheldon had the biggest heart and was loved by so many people. He was taken too young but he will live on. My mother and I are trying to stay as strong as possible. He’s in a better place and is hanging out with my father. I hope his huge smile and hugte heart will live within us all forever."

The goal of the page is to raise a total of $30,000 for Singh's family. In just one day, the page has raised a total of $11,585.

"Due to this tragic, untimely passing any and all help would be greatly appreciated," the page reads.
