Students in physical education classes at Deer Park’s John Quincy Adams Primary School recently participated in socially distant hula hooping, where they were shown how to use the hoops, “spin the top,” jump rope through the hoops, blast off like a rocket ship and count down. They also used the hula hoops as their “puppies,” naming their hula hoop dogs and taking them for a “walk,” where the students walked alongside the hoops and rolled the hoops next to them.

“They had to stay far apart from one another so the puppies didn’t ‘bite’ the other dogs,” said teacher Keri Zuk.

To ensure safety, the students were instructed to find open spaces to stay distant, and all hoops were sanitized after the class and set out to dry.
