Maltese requests Edgewood Oak Brush Preserve- West Nile Spraying
Maryann Maltese, candidate for NYS Assembly-Park Lover and Bike Trail User; requests NYS DEC/NYS Parks for improvements
Maryann Maltese, lover of nature, Parks and Preservation Supporter; Candidate for NYS Assembly #12; sent correspondence to NYS DEC and NYS Parks Department requesting for the installation of a Bike-Tire Repair Station to be installed near the Picnic Area of Edgewood Brush Oak Preserve's Main Entrance off Commack Road, Deer Park.
The installation of the Bike-Tire Repair Stations have been installed in other nearby Parks; such as Heckscher State Park. This addition for those that use the Bike Trails daily; would make Edgewood Brush Oak Preserve usage even more enjoyable. Sometimes Biker's of all ages experience an issue on the trail, popping tires or in need of air in their tires, and the convenience of such installations falls within New York State's Commitment to enhancing Public Park usage. Pictured above is one of the Bike-Tire Repair, Pump stations installed at Heckscher Park.
Additionally, I requested that Edgewood Brush Oak Preserve be placed on the list for West Nile spraying because on some of the trails after rain-heavy ponding conditions occur and many of the bike trails do not have proper drainage capacity presently leading to Mosquito Infestations. West Nile was recently detected in Bayshore and it is necessary to ensure locations are on the West Nile spray scheduled. I'm supportive of upgrades for Edgewood Oak Preserve Park to ensure safety and rider enjoyment, said Maryann Maltese

Maryann Maltese is a former Regional Communications Director/Chief of Staff for multiple Members of the NYS Legislature. During her Downstate Regional Tenure; most notable projects worked on; Brooklyn Pier Waterfront Restoration Projects, in which Ms. Maltese's role was to remain in contact with Community Groups and State Regulatory Agencies to bring positive resolve and ensure Agency compliance. This is just one of many projects I have assisted on.
I enjoy Park's and Preserves just like everyone else; to disconnect and to enjoy our communities gems, and Edgewood Oak Brush Preserve has not been on NYS list of upgrades due to Budgetary matters, said Maryann Maltese. I support the need for additional State funding to be directed to Edgewood Oak Brush Preserve because multiple ramps are decaying-exposing foundational structural parts, like metal piercing upward which may be a hazard to young or inexperienced riders. No one wants to end up in the ER during a fun bike trip, said Maltese.

I'm committed to bringing the funding back from Albany that is necessary to ensure that Edgewood Oak Brush Preserve-finally-receives the touch up of love it requires. NYS Assembly District runs from Asharoken to West Islip; taking in multiple State Parks and recreational facilities, including Edgewood Oak Brush Preserve. I would love some community Member's to share their insight with me on thoughts on Edgewood Oak Brush Preserve.
I have an online Petition and Letter of support seeking increased State Funding for the Edgewood Oak Brush Preserve Park; if you're interested in signing and/or getting involved; please reach out.
