Man Charged in Overnight Car Break-in Spree in North Babylon
A 22-year-old North Babylon man faces numerous charges after being arrested early Monday, police say.

NORTH BABYLON, NY- Police say a North Babylon man broke into and stole items from several cars early Monday in North Babylon.
According to police, First Precinct Officer Timothy Cohen responded to a 911 call in which a caller reported a suspicious man trying to open doors of parked vehicles on Central Avenue around 3:45 a.m.
Cohen searched the neighborhood and located 22-year-old Michael McFarland inside a BMW parked in the driveway of a residence on Cherubina Lane. McFarland was in possession of a backpack that contained stolen wallets, credit cards, computers and GPS devices, police said.

McFarland committed the larcenies from vehicles parked in front of residences on Central Avenue, Ventura Drive and Cherubina Lane, police sad.
McFarland, of Bluebell Lane, is charged with four counts of grand larceny , two counts of criminal possession of stolen property and unlawful possession of marijuana.

McFarland will be held overnight at the First Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.
There was no damage to any of the vehicles. Police are reminding residents to avoid leaving valuable items in their vehicles and to lock all car doors.
The investigation is continuing. Detectives ask anyone with information regarding these incidents to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
