Man Who Forced Women Into Sex Acts At Knifepoint Sentenced To 25 Years To Life: DA
He slashed one woman on the neck, stabbed another in the face and strangled a woman with her scarf until she became unconscious, DA says.

PATCHOGUE, NY — A Patchogue man was sentenced to 27 years to life after a jury found him guilty of predatory sexual assault and other related charges, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said.
Gary Conyers, 59, forced six women to perform oral sex on him at knifepoint, the DA said.
The evidence at trial established that between October 2023 and December 2023, Conyers preyed upon six different women and forcibly compelled them to give him oral sex without their consent, Tierney said.

At the time of his crimes, the women were addicted to crack-cocaine and living in poverty, the DA said.
Conyers lured the women into his car or home with the promise of drugs, money, and even a shower, Tierney said. Once he isolated them, Conyers used or threatened to use a knife to force them to comply with his demands for oral sex, Tierney said.

In multiple incidents, Conyers used the knife to inflict physical injuries on the women, including slashing one in the neck and stabbing another in the face; Conyers also strangled one woman with her scarf until she lost consciousness, Tierney said.
Following an investigation by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, the Suffolk County Police Department, and the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, Conyers was placed under arrest on May 27, 2024, the DA said.
On March 18, 2026, Conyers was convicted of the following charges after a jury trial heard before Supreme Court Justice Timothy P. Mazzei, Tierney said: Eight counts of predatory sexual assault, Class A-II felonies; seven counts of first-degree criminal sexual act, Class B violent felonies; seven counts of first-degree sexual abuse, Class D violent felonies; ∙ two counts of second-degree assault, Class D violent felonies; and one count of strangulation, a Class D violent felony, Tierney said.
On Tuesday, Justice Mazzei sentenced Conyers to 27 years to life in prison; he was represented by Scott Gross, who was not immediately available for comment.
"We recognize the lasting trauma that sexual assault inflicts on survivors, and we remain committed to ensuring that all victims are treated with dignity, respect, and support throughout the justice process, Tierney said . "I want to thank the Sheriff’s Office and the Suffolk County Police Department for their important work on this case, and I encourage anyone who has been victimized to report such crimes to the police."
