Man Pretending To Help Woman With Fake Flat Tire Steals Her Car In North Babylon

A man stole a woman's car in North Babylon Monday afternoon in a flat tire scheme robbery, police said.

It happened around 2:50 p.m. on Ryder Avenue. According to police, a 40-year-old woman was driving a 2010 Honda when a man on foot motioned to her to pull her car over and indicated she had a flat tire.

The woman got out of the car and the man distracted her and got in the driver seat. A struggle ensued and the man drove away in the vehicle, police said.

No arrests have been made. Police did not release a description of the thief.
