Maryann Matese encourage Governor Cuomo to eliminate UIB ATM FEE
Maltese will introduce consumer protection legislation to mandate that NYS eliminate UIB-Unemployment ATM Fees for non-provider card usage

Maryann Maltese, Democratic candidate, NYS Assembly District # 12, will introduce a bill in Albany to remove the ATM surcharge fees for those who are approved for Unemployment Benefits and opt to use ATM replenishment cards.
Presently, NYS is in contract with KeyBank as the Unemployment Benefits facilitator, and Key Bank ATM's are not located in the downstate region. Long Islanders can use Allpoint ATM's and not be charged for usage with their Unemployment Benefit Card, but if one uses their Unemployment ATM card at other banking facilities they can be charged any where from $1,00-$3.00 per transaction use, said Maryann Maltese
If one is on Unemployment Benefits and uses their Unemployment Benefit cards at NYS ATM's there should be no-ATM Fee surcharges on these benefits, said Maryann Maltese

If NYS can not make this administrative change while UIB Pandemic Employment Claims are processed at record levels-even today's estimate in New York Times of those New Yorkers eligible in NYS is $1 Million-I'll be introducing the bill in Albany. At $1.00-$3.00 administrative fee for usage-NYS is collecting this fee unethically-this fee should be eliminated immediately, said Maryann Maltese.
The intent of providing UIB recipients with an ATM based card is to provide them with access of usage-not to charge those unemployed ATM fees for usage, said Maryann Maltese. It's simply-the wrong message to those trying to have normalcy in their lives during Pandemic restraints and while unemployed or not earning income, said Maryann. I'm also classified as non-essential employee currently and if one isn't earning income by doing their part in "we're all in this together"-then every dollar counts-that is the message for Governor Andrew Cuomo. The 12th Assembly District is filled with Mom and Pop businesses; retail, restaurant, bar-and-grill, salon establishments-we're operating on limited staffing and distancing our businesses within 6 feet-so PUA Pandemic applications are being processed-and recipients have the option of UIB Debit cards that if one no longer has a checking account-can now go retrieve cash from their Empire State DOL UIB ATM card. Charging additional fees at non-participating ATMS is bad business practices when families are in need, said Maryann.

Maryann Maltese is a former NYS Regional Planner for NYS Legislature-and charging ATM fees for UIB benefits is unacceptable. When. you're unemployed and on UIB-every dollar counts and Financial Institutions should not be charging fees for UIB ATM cards usage, said Maryann Maltese. Maryann also attended BOCES Western Suffolk Northport-received her continuing education in Cosmetology licensure and she holds her BA in political sciences from Queens College.
If the Governor is unable to make this change administratively through NYS DOL now-then I'll be introducing the bill to do so, said Maryann Maltese. It's passage is relevant whether NYS is in State of Emergency Orders or not.
