DEER PARK, NY — A group of teachers and staff from May Moore Elementary School decided to bring some joy to the Deer Park community in light of the coronavirus outbreak. While students have been out of school since Match 13, the employees of the school decided to come out for a honk and hello on March 30.

"We love and care about our students and their families," Principal Philip Paniccia said. "Everyone at May Moore came together for this car parade because we know how stressful and difficult the current situation is for our community."

A parade of cars decorated with inspirational signs taped to the windows drove around the neighborhood in a heartwarming car parade. The teachers and staff went around waving to students while they remained in their yards, front doors and sidewalks.

"This was just a chance for us to show our students that we’re thinking about them every day and can’t wait to see them at school again. I am so proud of our faculty and staff for arranging and participating in this, and I was so impressed by the community’s response as well," Paniccia said. "Just as much as we wanted to be there for our students, our students and the community came out to show the same support. It was an uplifting and rewarding day."
