Drivers are urged to use alternative routes as bridge repairs are made.

Two of the three travel lanes on the Southern State Parkway in the Town of Babylon will be closed at night for bridge repairs beginning Sunday, Sept. 23, the Department of Transportation announced Friday.
In the westbound direction, the middle and left lane will be closed between Deer Park Avenue/Route 231 (Exit 39) and Wellwood Avenue (Exit 35) between midnight and 5 a.m.
All entrance and exit ramps for Belmont Avenue will also be closed. These nighttime closures are expected to be completed, weather permitting, by Friday, Sept. 28, the DOT said.
The closures are being conducted to erect scaffolding at the Belmont Avenue and the Little East Neck Road bridges over the Southern State Parkway in order to replace the bridge parapet walls.

Drivers are urged to use alternate routes such as Sunrise Highway (NY Route 27).
The DOT also reminds motorists of the Move-Over Law, which now includes all hazard vehicles with amber lights such as tow trucks and construction vehicles.
On parkways and other major highways with multiple lanes, drivers must move to a travel lane away from a vehicle displaying amber, red, white or blue flashing lights, or slow down.
