No Halloween Cancellations for Town of Babylon
Officials have not issued a holiday postponement, police urge parents to be cautious.
There are no Halloween cancellations or postponements for the Town of Babylon Wednesday, Oct. 31. Parents are allowed to take their children trick-or-treating, but extreme caution is advised.
There were no town-sponsored events scheduled for Halloween, however superstorm Sandy has made it hazardous for children to partake in the regular holiday activities.
The Suffolk County Police Department issued a statement Wednesday morning recommending that parents take precautions if they choose to take their children trick-or-treating.

"In spite of the improved weather conditions, there are still numerous downed trees and live wires as well as flooding conditions in many neighborhoods. Police suggest parents consider staying home and celebrating Halloween indoors. Trick-or-treating and traditional Halloween celebrations are intended to be fun for children, however, due to the recent storm, it may be unsafe to be outdoors. If parents choose to take the risk of going trick-or-treating with their children, they must be aware of the dangers these post-storm conditions pose to their children’s safety," officials said.
For parents looking for a safe place to take their ghosts, goblins and princesses this Halloween, stores at Tanger Outlets at the Arches in Deer Park will be handing out candy to trick-or-treaters until 9 p.m.
