North Babylon Boy Scout Troop 399 at Yawgoog Scout Camp

North Babylon's Boy Scout Troop 399 began a tradition back in July of 1977 that still lasts today - summer camp at Yawgoog Scout Reservation! The troop attended Camp Yawgoog located in Rockville, Rhode Island the week of July 10. For Yawgoog's 107th season, 29 scouts and 7 leaders attended camp.

Each year at Camp Yawgoog enriches the boys’ knowledge of many subjects including Wilderness Survival, Chess, Fishing and First Aid. They can kayak, hike, canoe and swim among the many other wonderful activities at the reservation. The scouts earned 68 merit badges, Troop of the Week, and Liam K. earned Mile Swim for the 2nd time. The entire troop did a Wild Edibles Hike, the Low challenge(using teamwork to overcome obstacles) and Islands of Exploration. Liam K. was also awarded the J. Harold Williams Award for Brotherhood for Yawgoog's Camp Medicine Bow. The J. Harold Williams Brotherhood Award was established by the J. Harold Williams Memorial Fund to perpetuate his belief in the spirit of Scouting and in the ideals of the movement. Scouts are selected weekly from observation of the key camp staff as having practiced these ideals. Recipients of this award are recognized during the Sunday Dress Parade. The scouts learned to live and work together towards common goals with community spirit and had a wonderful time!
