North Babylon Boy Scout Troop 399's Camping and Mining Trip

Camping and Mining in Herkimer County, NY

The Scouts and Adult Leaders of Boy Scout Troop 399 of North Babylon hugely enjoyed camping and mining for Herkimer Diamonds (double-terminated quartz crystals) at the Ace of Diamonds Mine and Campground. This is an open-pit mine in Herkimer county which is located in Middleville, New York.

The leaders and scouts mined numerous different types of crystals, including many perfectly shaped Herkimer Diamonds. A great, fun and adventurous time was had by all. The troop looks forward to and hopes to do many more of these field trips in the near future.

Boy Scout Troop 399 meetings are held each Thursday evening that schools are open at 7:30pm in the Marion G. Vedder Elementary School cafeteria.
