North Babylon High Students Teach Younger Counterparts
AP students conduct science lab lessons for elementary students.

Students from North Babylon High School recently visited Marion G. Vedder Elementary School to conduct science lab lessons for its fourth-graders.
Students in Renee Bandes’ advanced placement environmental science class worked with the MGV students on lab exercises about groundwater contamination, which correlated with the fourth-grade’s water cycle topic study. The high school students took on teacher roles — they researched information, organized it in a meaningful way for their audience and sustained the attention of the younger students.
The AP students will be making follow-up visits to MGV, as well as visits to the rest of the district’s elementary schools.
