North Babylon Troop 399 Boy Scout wins Honor Spirit Award

Matthew Arshad, a boy scout from North Babylon's Boy Scout Troop 399 has won the Honor Spirit Award from the Suffolk County Boy Scout Council. This award recognizes a scout that has demonstrated outstanding service to scouting, community, his religious institution, and family.

Matt started his journey in scouting as a cub scout in Pack 86, Deer Park as a Webelos and then became a boy scout in Troop 399. He emerged as a leader for his troop and has held the positions of Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and is currently the Senior Patrol Leader of Troop 399. Community service is always a priority for Matt, and he has done several projects for his boy scout troop a project to help the homeless for Ascension Lutheran Church, a variety of food and toy drives and a greeting card drive for the Bristol Assisted Living facility. In addition, he has also given many hours of community service to projects with various clubs at the Deer Park Library. He truly encompasses all the characteristics of a great scout! Matthew will be honored with his award at the Suffolk County Council Awards Dinner.
