North Babylon Troop 399 Scoutmaster receives Silver Beaver award

Joseph Fatuzzo of North Babylon started out in Scouting as a boy, and still involved years later, he’s being honored for his dedication to the organization.

Mr. Fatuzzo received the Silver Beaver Award from the Sagtikos District Boy Scouts of America along with 6 other highly deserving Scouters. The Silver Beaver Award is the highest level of recognition the council can give a volunteer. Introduced in 1931, the Silver Beaver is a BSA council-level distinguished service award. These scouters have made a huge impact on the lives of youth through their hard work, self-sacrifice, and years of dedicated service.

Fatuzzo served as an Assistant Cubmaster for Pack 112, Scoutmaster for BSA Troop 399, Crew Advisor, Unit Training Chair, Asst District Commissioner and Unit Commissioner. He has been a leader in Scouting for over 18 years and has earned multiple training awards and received the Unit Leader Award of Merit and the Lions Club Scouting Service Award. During his time as Scoutmaster for BSA Troop 399, he has helped 38 scouts rank up to Eagle Scout and the troop repeatedly earned the JTE Gold award.

Additionally, Mr. Fautzzo is part of the North Babylon Lions Club in which he has participated in a number of community service projects such as vision screening for children, community cleanups and beautification, and numerous food drives for the North Babylon Food Pantry.
