Pregnant Long Island Woman Struck By SUV Dies From Injuries

The 28-year-old woman died after being struck by an SUV driven by an 89-year-old man, police say.

A 28-year-old Long Island woman who was reportedly five months pregnant has died from injuries suffered when she was struck by an SUV last week.

Police said Jeanmarie Ott, of Deer Park, died at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center on Saturday, three days after the crash. Ott's sister, Alicia Ott, told Patch that "she passed away the day after being struck. They kept her organs going till Saturday till they found a donor."

According to Suffolk Police, Jeanmarie Ott was walking south on Straight Path and crossing Long Island Avenue in Wyandanch when she was struck by a 2015 Nissan Rogue that was traveling west on Long Island Avenue at about 6:05 a.m. on Sept. 6.

Ott was transported by Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Ambulance Corporation to Good Samaritan for injuries that police initially described as non-life threatening. The driver of the Nissan, Leo Bellotti, 89, of Deer Park, was not injured.

Ott was five months pregnant with her first child, Newsday reported.
