Robert Frost Shelter Closing
The shelter will be combined with others at St. Joseph's College in Patchogue.
Nearly all shelters in Suffolk, including the Red Cross facility at Robert Moses Middle School in Deer Park, will be consolidated at St. Joseph's College in Patchogue, county officials announced Tuesday.
Approximately 80 percent of those housed in temporary shelters required sheltering as a result of power outages, according to a statement from Suffolk Executive Steve Bellone's office.
As outages are being addressed, and housing resources increasingly become available, the previously urgent need for multiple emergency shelters across the county is diminishing, officials said in the statement.
