Saints Cyril and Methodius Graduate Named National Merit Semi-Finalist
Dominick Rich, 2013 SSCM Graduate, granted a prestigious honor in the 62nd Annual National Merit Scholarship Program

Dominick Rich, a graduate of Deer Park's Saints Cyril and Methodius School, Class of 2013, has been named as a 2017 Semi-Finalist in the 62nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
The nationwide pool of Semi-Finalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT / National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which serves as an initial screen of approximately 1.6 million entrants.
Dominick is among academically talented high school seniors across the country who have the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships to be awarded next spring and valued at nearly $33 million. In addition to academic excellence, Semi-Finalists are judged on participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities and Principal Recommendations, as well as employment and honors and awards received. Congratulations to Dominick, his parents and family, his teachers, and all who have inspired him to become a lifelong learner!
