SCWA Replaces More than 2,000 Feet Of Water Main in Deer Park

The Suffolk County Water Authority this week will complete a 2,182-foot water main replacement project in Deer Park that will improve both water pressure and fire protection in the community.

The project began last week and should be completed by Friday. Under the project, old and undersized main is being replaced by 6” and 8” ductile iron pipe on West 11th Street and West 14th street south from Grand Boulevard and on West 15th Street south from Lake Avenue.

“Replacing old and undersized water main with new and larger water main not only provides additional protection against water main breaks but also improves pressure, which bolsters fire protection,” said SCWA Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey W. Szabo.

The Suffolk County Water Authority is an independent public-benefit corporation operating under the authority of the Public Authorities Law of the State of New York. Serving approximately 1.2 million Suffolk County residents, the Authority operates without taxing power on a not-for-profit basis.
