'Shed the Meds' Today at the N. Babylon Library

Get rid of unwanted and potentially dangerous medications by dropping them off at the North Babylon Library from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.

A "Shed the Meds" event is taking place at the North Babylon Library from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Organized by Suffolk County Legis. Lou D’Amaro, the Suffolk County Sheriff’s
Department and the library, the purpose of the event is to allow residents to safely dispose of unwanted and potentially dangerous medications.

“With prescription drug misuse on the rise, it is important that we get unused and unneeded medications out of our homes and away from potential abusers,” D’Amaro said. “I thank the North Babylon Public Library for providing the host site for this program and urge community residents to show how much they care about their families and the environment."

It is suggested that medications be removed from their prescription bottles and placed in a plastic bag. Unfortunately, liquid medications cannot be
accepted. For more information, contact the North Babylon Public Library at 631-669-4020.
