Spring Family Fishing Festival at Belmont Lake State Park Saturday

Annual free event to be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The annual Spring Family Fishing Festival will be held at Belmont Lake State Park on Saturday. 

The state-run festival will include numerous free activities, including fishing instruction, fish cleaning services, environmental exhibits, an inflatable slide (weather dependent), temporary tattoos, and the "Spring Fling" children's casting contest. 

Loaner rods and free bait will be available to participants throughout the day. Prior to the event, Belmont Lake will be stocked with close to 4,000 trout by the state's Department of Environmental Conservation and the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

The freshwater fishing license requirement for anglers age 16 and older has been suspended for this event.

All activities are free; $8 parking fee or free with Empire Pass.

The weather should cooperate as well Saturday as Friday's rain and wind will morph into a perfect spring day with sunny skies and temperatures near 60.
