SSCM Third Graders Re-Charge with Old-Fashioned Fun

Monopoly! Sorry! Connect 4, anyone? There's nothing like the classics for re-fueling the brain cells.

Taking a break from lessons and learning, Deer Park‘s Saints Cyril and Methodius School third-graders re-charged their thinking caps with some old-fashioned fun. Students brought in “old school” games and activities to share some down time. Research shows that time off-task is important for proper brain function and health. With some time to refuel and re-energize, students are able to get back to work with greater focus and improved ability to learn. And unlike the mindlessness and lack of human connectivity that occurs when electronic games are at the center of focus, students are honing their skills of working as a team, learning to win well or lose well and polishing up their interpersonal skills in the process.
