Teacher Of The Week: Mrs. Kristen Lombardo

DEER PARK, NY — Everybody has a favorite teacher — maybe it's a teacher who went out of their way to make one student's day or a teacher who brightens up a classroom every day.

One teacher who deserves a shout-out is Mrs. Kristen Lombardo, a music teacher in the Deer Park School District. She was nominated as this week's Teacher of the Week by Dawn Russo.

Here's what Dawn had to say about Mrs. Lombardo:

We are lucky enough to have Mrs. Kristen Lombardo in the Deer Park School District. Mrs. Lombardo is a music teacher that is loved and adored by all that go through her classes. She goes above and beyond to not only teach our children, but show them how wonderful music is. Besides teaching music in several different schools, Mrs. Lombardo also teaches chorus in John F. Kenndey. Each year she amazes us at the winter and spring concerts with what she was able to do in such a short period of time. Mrs. Lombardo also directs the May Moore musical each year. In a few short months she is able to teach 2nd graders an entire musical production. Each year is better than the last. She has delighted parents with Annie, The Little Mermaid and Cinderella- just to name a few. Mrs. Lombardo not only teaches, she cares and it is obvious to every child who she has. She goes above and beyond to ensure that every kid feels like that are an important part of her class, chorus, musical or whatever she is working on. Mrs. Lombardo has a fierce following of students that even after leaving JFK or May Moore still get excited to see talk to her at school events. I could not think of anyone more deserving.
