Three Men Tried to Steal Rims, Tires During Blizzard in North Babylon: Police

Two of the men were arrested after a 911 call reported the theft in progress early Saturday, police say.

Two men were arrested after they tried to steal rims and tires from a car in North Babylon early Saturday at the start of the blizzard.

First Precinct Patrol officers responded to a 911 call from a neighbor who was witnessing three men stealing rims and tires from a 2015 Toyota Corolla in front of 26 Victoria Road around 2:30 a.m., police said.

Officer Ronald Treanor interrupted the theft in progress and immediately took two men into custody, police said. The third man fled on foot.

Diego Adames, 20, of North Amityville, and Dennis Granados, 25, of Copaigue, were arrested and charged with attempted grand larceny. They are being held at the First Precinct and will be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.

The investigation is continuing and police are asking anyone with information to contact the First Squad at 631-852-8152 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
