Town to Celebrate Women's History Month on March 28th

Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer and Councilman Tom Donnelly, who chairs the Town’s Human Services Committee, are proud to join with the Department of Human Services to host the Town’s annual Women’s History Month Celebration to be held Saturday, March 28th at Walter G. O’Connell High School in Copiague. The event starts at 11:00 AM and will feature honorees from the community and live performances to highlight the theme of this year’s festivities: “weaving the stories of women’s lives.”

Delivering the keynote address at the event will be Kimberly Jean-Pierre, who was elected to her first term as New York State Assemblywoman this past November. Judge Debra Urbano-DiSalvo, Amityville Village Justice, will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies. Among the live performances will be the Copiague High School Madrigal Choir. Local honorees include:

• Mary Cascone – Town of Babylon History Museum
• Michelle Change – Michelle’s 110 Diner
• Florence Findley – Town of Babylon Beautification Program
• Erin Hurme – Amityville Acupuncture & Wellness
• Denise Manoogian – Town of Babylon Planning & Development
• Yashika Stewart and Debricka Taylor – Beautifully Unique, Inc.
• Theresa Wilson-Coney, Esq. – The Eastern Shore Chapter of The Links, Inc.

In addition to honorees and live performances, there will be a vendor marketplace featuring displays from local businesses.

Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School is located at 1100 Dixon Avenue in Copiague.
