Deer Park High School recently honored junior Troy Cofie as Student of the Month for October. Cofie serves as vice president of the school’s Social Issues Club and is also a member of the International Culture Club.

“I had the privilege of teaching Troy in my Spanish 2 class when he was a freshman,” said teacher Alfonsina Sguera, who nominated Cofie for the award. “Troy was always ready to learn, considerate, positive and brought great energy to the classroom. Recently, he came to visit me as a junior, and it was clear his passion for learning was still very strong and his goals were high. He continues to challenge himself with several AP courses and works diligently throughout the weekend to achieve his goals. He is a model student and I am so proud of his contributions to the community.”
