Tuesday Evening Updates for Town of Babylon

The Town of Babylon has announced the following updates for residents recovering from Sandy's aftermath:

• In the case of emergency, Town residents are urged to call 911. Due to widespread power outages in key areas, there are intermittent technical difficulties with the alternate emergency number (226-1212).

• Residents looking to apply for assistance from FEMA should contact the agency directly at 1-800-621-3362.

• Town of Babylon cell phone charging stations located at Town Hall and the Town Hall Annex are open tonight until 9:00 p.m.

• Again, the Town urges residents not to return to the evacuation zone south of Montauk Highway and the barrier beaches, as widespread flooding persists, creating a dangerous situation.

• Residents are advised to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.
