The virtual celebration recognized multiple honorees including local officials, students and business members who were acknowledged for their service to the community. Mr. Sibblies was presented with a Special Recognition award for his unwavering dedication to the Wyandanch Union Free School District and the Wyandanch community.
“Paul is a treasure in our community and in the Wyandanch School District,” said Town of Babylon Supervisor, Mr. Rich Shaeffer. “His leadership and what he does daily with the students in his district, not just the high school, is truly inspiring. He is second to none and we are lucky to have someone of his caliber.”

During the celebration, Mr. Sibblies attributed his dedication to education to his father and mother who worked to instill a deep-rooted love of learning in him from a young age. From that, Mr. Sibblies has committed his career to sharing with his students that education and character development is the key to becoming whatever they want to be in life.
Mr. Sibblies has served Wyandanch schools since 2006, beginning as assistant high school principal, and becoming principal in 2009.
“Mr. Sibblies is a remarkable role model for the scholars within the high school and the younger scholars in the middle and elementary schools,” said Dr. Gina Talbert, superintendent of schools. “Wyandanch Union Free School District is proud of Mr. Sibblies and his hard work and dedication to our schools and community, and we congratulate him on this recognition from the Town of Babylon.”
As principal, Mr. Sibblies works daily to foster a college-goal culture for students. He created the Geoffrey Canada Scholarship Fund with former WUFSD alumnus, and founder and president of the Harlem Children's Zone, Geoffrey Canada. The scholarship fund aids graduates in funding their higher education throughout all their college years, not just the first. Also, through several fundraising campaigns spearheaded by Mr. Sibblies, the guidance department at Wyandanch Memorial High School has been able to take the students on a number of college tours annually.
In addition, Mr. Sibblies serves as a mentor for his students. Seeing the hardships young men in Wyandanch often face, he created the Kappa League, a young men’s mentoring program within the district. The Kappa League offers support for social and spiritual well-being which helps members acquire healthy attitudes, behaviors and relationships. This program enables students to live productive lives and become well-rounded citizens in society.
Mr. Sibblies uses his passion to educate and inspire others beyond the Wyandanch community mentoring wayward youth at the Westbury Juvenile Detention Center and serving as the Sunday School Director and Praise and Worship Leader at Ebenezer United Pentecostal Church.
Prior to his tenure with the Wyandanch UFSD, Mr. Sibblies began his teaching career as a middle school English and social studies teacher in East New York, Brooklyn. He then quickly transitioned to dean, followed by assistant administrator of schools. Mr. Sibblies received his bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University and holds two master’s degrees from New York Institute of Technology and the College of Saint Rose in Education and Educational Supervision.
The district congratulates Mr. Sibblies on this wonderful recognition.
