Wyandanch Home Health Aide Accused Of Stealing From Elderly Patient: Police
A Wyandanch-based home health aide used a patient's debit card to withdraw cash for personal purchases, police say.
WYANDANCH, NY — A Wyandanch-based home health aide was arrested Tuesday after being accused of stealing money from her elderly patient last year, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.
Police said a 72-year-old woman from Wyandanch reported on August 11 that an unknown person had used her debit card to access her bank account and withdrew approximately $1,100.
Following an investigation by Financial Crimes Unit detectives, police said they determined that Ceceily Williams, a private home health aide hired by the victim, removed the victim’s ATM card from her wallet and used it to make the withdrawal. Investigators said Williams then used the money for personal purchases.
