Wyandanch Kappa Leaguers Join Harvey Foundation Virtual Mentors

The program was created to "ease anxiety for young men, while sharing and teaching them the principles of manhood."

Recently, the Wyandanch High School Kappa League took part in the Steve Harvey Virtual Mentoring Program. The Kappa League, which is comprised of 30 young men from Wyandanch High School, along with High School Principal Paul Sibblies joined the virtual meeting and participated in engaging and informative conversations that aim to help the young participants realize their potential and envision and prepare them for long, productive futures.

The virtual meeting was the last one for the year and featured guest speaker Q. Parker, a Grammy Award winner and two-time MTV Video Music award winner, who spoke to the more than 100 participants worldwide about being diligent, working hard to reach their goals and being positive role models for others.

During the session, Mr. Derrick Hill, a managing partner of the program, thanked Sibblies for inviting the students to join the program and working to uplift the young men in the Kappa League program. The Kappa League is a national program for the educational, occupational and social guidance of male students in grades 6-12. It was designed to help young men grow, receive and develop their leadership talents in every phase of human endeavor. The Wyandanch High School Kappa Leaguers is part of the Brooklyn/Long Island Alumni Chapter.

The Steve Harvey Virtual Mentoring Program was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in hopes to ease anxiety for young men, while sharing and teaching them the principles of manhood.
