Elderly Brooklyn Woman Raped by Home Invader: NYPD

She was sweeping outside when he snuck in, police say.

An 82-year-old woman was raped at her Brighton Beach home by a burglar who slipped in while she was sweeping the street outside her house, police say.

The New York City Police Department is asking the public for assistance in locating the following suspect who is wanted in connection to the a rape in Brooklyn within the confines of the 60 Precinct. Details are as follows:

On Monday, July 13, 2015 at approximately 1:40 a.m., the unknown male suspect gained entry inside the 82-year-old female victim’s private residence while she was outside sweeping the street. The victim went back inside her residence and went inside her bedroom. The suspect, who was hiding inside the bedroom, then assaulted the victim and demanded money at knife-point. The victim did not have any money to provide to the suspect, and he remained inside the apartment for several hours. At approximately 4 a.m., the suspect forcibly raped the victim. The suspect then fled the location, stealing an umbrella and a bag containing clothing. The victim was later removed to Kings County Hospital for evaluation.

  • Male black
  • Approximately 20-30 years old
  • 5’8” tall
  • 160 pounds
  • Has an an Afro and a light beard
  • He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with unknown writing on the front, grey sweat pants, and Converse sneakers with white laces
