Friends of Cortelyou Library invite you to Celebrate Black History Month at the Cortelyou Library next Saturday, February 26 @ 3 pm:

Erica Simone Turnipseed
reads from her latest novel


Erica Simone Turnipseed-Webb is the author of Hunger, an Essence Book Club Recommended Read. Her debut novel was A Love Noire, which won the Atlanta Choice Award Author of the Year from the Atlanta Daily World. In addition, Turnipseed was nominated for Breakout Author of the Year for the African American Literary Awards Show Open Book Award. A full-time writer, Turnipseed has B.A. and M.A degrees in anthropology from Yale and Columbia universities, respectively, and is also the founder of the "Five Years for the House Initiative," a fundraising drive for the Afro-American Cultural Center at Yale. A Brooklyn native, she lives in Flatbush with her husband, Kevin, daughter, Lena, and son, Kellis.


Attendees will receive a complimentary copy of the soundtrack to Ms. Turnipseed’s books.
