Hijab-Wearing Woman Kicked And Bullied In Flatbush Attack: Cops

The NYPD Hate Crime task force is looking for the man who kicked and tried to trip a woman wearing a hijab on Avenue H last weekend.

FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN -- An enraged man attacked a woman wearing a hijab in Flatbush last weekend and the Hate Crime task force has been assigned to the case, police said.

The man lunged at the 41-year-old woman near the corner of Avenue H and Rugby Road just after 3:35 p.m. Saturday, police said.

He tried to make the woman trip by kicking her feet and shin then ran away down Avenue H, said police.

The terrified woman called 911 and was treated for pain and bruising by emergency responders, police said.

Bklyner was first to report the incident and spoke with the victim, who said she believed she was attacked because she was Muslim.

“He kicked me with such force,” the woman told Bklyner. "It was as if he was angry at me.”

Police released photos of the suspect — whom they describe as a 5-foot 7-inch tall man in his early 20s, last seen wearing a gray hoodie, black jacket and jeans — Monday night.
