“This conference brings together esteemed Jewish voices from the media in an open forum,” said Howard Honigman, Director of ILJB. “From presidential candidates to the state of Israel, current events and issues that impact Jews are covered by news outlets on a daily basis. As Jews in the newsroom, is it possible to maintain objectivity in the coverage of and response of such news? And whose reporting can the Jewish community trust, given the divides among us? We seek to uncover the answers to these questions, and find common ground.”
Over the course of the day, panelists will discuss editorial policy and objectivity regarding hot topics such as Israel, antiSemitism, scandals in which Jews are implicated, Jewish political and financial influence. An afternoon panel will address more specialized areas of coverage including cultural criticism, local reporting, and technology reporting.
The conference begins at 10:00 a.m. and runs through 3:00 p.m. with one panel each in the morning and afternoon, each with a Q&A session. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and can be purchased online: http://iljb.org/attendance.html
