Hate Crime Squad Investigates Brutal Brooklyn Attack: Report

Police are looking for the man who punched and kicked a 55-year-old stranger, then knocked off his yarmulke.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK -- Police are looking for the man who punched and kicked a stranger in Brooklyn Tuesday, then knocked off the yarmulke.

The suspect attacked his 55-year-old victim near the corner of Avenue J and East 14th Street at about 3:15 p.m. on Nov. 6, police said.

The NYPD Hate Crimes Unit is investigating the incident, but sources told the Daily News the man made no anti-Semitic remarks.

The attack occurred one day before NYPD officials announced a spike in anti-Semitic hate crimes in New York City.

Police are now looking for the attacker, whom they describe as a 5-foot 11-inch tall man who is about 30-years old.
