Watch: Martin Shkreli Goes to Washington, Pleads the Fifth
The Brooklyn-born pharma executive refused to answer questions during a House Oversight Committee meeting on rising drug prices.

SHEEPSHEAD BAY, BROOKLYN — Martin Shkreli is at it again.
The 32-year-old founder and former CEO of Turing Pharmaceutical — who became infamous after raising the price of Daraprim, an HIV drug, by more than 5,000 percent — attended a Congressional hearing on the rising cost of drug prices Thursday morning. It went as well as anyone would expect.
The Sheepshead Bay native, who is under investigation for securities fraud, took the advice of his counsel and refused to speak. Question after question, Shkreli chose to “invoke my fifth amendment privilege against self-incrimination and respectfully decline to answer your question.”

Hey — at least he was being respectful.
Eventually Shkreli was excused from the hearing after clarifying that he wasn’t going to answer any questions. After the hearing, it seemed Shkreli had more to say to Congress than during the 10 minutes prior.
