📰 News we're reading

• EA Spooky Way Begins Fourth Year of Halloween Celebrations (eastaurorany.com) — East Aurora is gearing up for another huge Halloween, with village officials planning a soft closure of Oakwood Avenue on October 31 to keep trick-or-treaters safer during peak hours. The EA Spooky Way group is again mapping decorated homes and attractions around town, inviting residents to sign up for free, attend workshops, and optionally buy a yard sign to mark their spooky stops.

• Many Western New York high schools plunge in U.S. News rankings - Here's what changed (wkbw.com) — East Aurora High School tumbled nearly 6,000 places in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings, despite no major change at the school itself. A statewide decision to withhold Advanced Placement data appears to have dragged down many New York schools, prompting debate over student privacy, the value of rankings, and how families should interpret these sudden shifts.
