📰 News we're reading

• Boat Catches Fire, Drifts Toward Bulkhead In Bay Shore: FD (patch.com) — A boat caught fire and drifted dangerously close to a bulkhead near Bay Shore Marina, drawing a quick response from multiple agencies including a mutual aid fireboat from the East Islip Fire Department. Firefighters secured the unoccupied vessel, extinguished the engine-compartment blaze, and cleared the scene in under an hour, with the cause of the fire still under investigation.

• Stony Brook football features three high school duos from Long Island (newsday.com) — Stony Brook University's football team is leaning on strong Long Island ties, including players who once battled against East Islip High School standouts and now face them in practice. Coaches say these local connections, plus daily reps against All-American-caliber talent, are helping young Long Island recruits grow and could make the program an even bigger draw for area high school stars.
