Over $500 million has been invested to create the new Mount Sinai Downtown network—including building the new hospital, known as Mount Sinai Downtown Beth Israel on 14th Street and Second Avenue.

The current hospital has 450 beds, and the new one will have 220.

Officials from Mount Sinai said they're downsizing from the campus on First Avenue and 16th Street in order to adapt to the changing health care climate, where more people are using outpatient care rather than spending time in the hospital.

"On average, less than sixty percent of the hospital’s licensed beds are occupied and patient volume has decreased by double digits since 2012," the website states.

The new hospital will be located just two blocks away from Beth Israel's current location.

The community meeting will take place in the third floor conference room of the NY Eye and Ear Infirmary at 310 E 14th St.
